Welcome to the Cityatwork STEAM TEAM! We are delighted to support an innovative team of creative educators who work with great joy, dedication, and collaboration to transform NYS schools and support scholars to become life-long scientists!

Dr. Jessica Behm
Founder +
Executive Director
Dr. Behm founded Cityatwork in 2001 to offer innovative STEAM Education to 3K-12 schools, designed by and for educators. The Cityatwork Labs for Learning™ and Design is Dignity™ classroom programs have installed over 100 21st - Century STEAM classrooms in NYS public schools. Dr. Behm has worked as a robotics, electrical, and interactive engineer, as well as a professor in interactive computing and science writing.

Dr. Ying Zhu
Director of Technology
Dr. Zhu serves as a consulting Director of Technology. She advises on best practices for STEAM education project management and timelines, K-12 engineering applications, and STEAM educational programs for girl scholars and scientists, Grades K-20.

Amanda Bernard
Director of Operations
Mrs. Bernard oversees new business partnerships to create successful community, public, and private relationships. Mrs. Bernard’s key roles at Cityatwork include Educational Oversight, Public Relations, Donor Relations, Governmental Relations, Public Speaking, and Issue Research. Mrs. Bernard is a former professional journalist who covered Educational Policy, International Relations, and Governmental Policy, including work for the BBC.

Project Manager
