OUR CURRICULA

Cityatwork offers a continuum of hands-on activities for STEAM Project Based Learning (PBL)

that combines science, engineering, art, and creative exploration.

Schools may contract for customized support or a curriculum collection for Grades Pre K-12.

Professional development and curriculum units are aligned with NYC, NYS and NGSS Standards.

Teach to Transform.

STEAM Ahead.

Get ready to rock out in this geology series! Make your own fossils, learn about rocks and minerals, open geodes, make lava, and discover how igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks are formed!

Learn sums by observing succulents! Learn about the math of fractals and practice addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication skills with patterned plants!

Learn about flowers and pollinators and combine science, art, and creative thinking! Make perfume from flowers, create flower art, and plant a flower garden along the way!

Learn about one of nature's fascinating transformations. Caterpillars liquify their bodies to turn into moths and butterflies! Feed caterpillars, observe cocoons, release butterflies and moths, and document your discoveries!

Learn about bird habitats in this biology and environmental engineering series. Activities include designing birdhouses, learning bird calls, and discovering preferred food types and habitats for birds!

Learn about the biology, behavior, and habitats of wild, weird, and wacky amphibians and reptiles in this class series. Observe live animals, how to save their natural ecosystems, and make art.

Introduce young scholars to engineering, including design, drawing, building, balance, problem-solving, and hands-on construction. Students learn to engineer boats, bridges, buildings, and robots!

Use science tools including binoculars, magnifying glasses, microscopes, and science notebooks. Collect, observe, and document plant and animal species and design your own hands-on experiments!

Learn about the wild and wondrous world of plants! Grow container gardens, design plant experiments, grow a hydroponic garden, and learn about native NY tree and plant species.

Robots have fascinated our imagination for more than 100 years. In the 21st century, the lives of young scientists will be newly shaped by robots. Design, build, and engineer interactive robots for races!

Trees supply oxygen on Earth and support almost every human activity, including producing paper, homes, and fuel. Learn to identify the trees of NY State, explore forest habitats, and plant your own trees in a forest.

Engineering is a key component of STEAM education for K-12 students. Learn about the science of batteries, voltage regulators, resistors, LED lights, and speakers, and make your own creative circuits!
